Sarawak Energy Strengthens Industry Partnerships through Vendor Excellence Awards 2026

Sarawak Energy recognised outstanding vendors and contractors at the Sarawak Energy Vendor Excellence Awards (SEVEA) 2026, celebrating excellence in procurement, project delivery, regulatory compliance and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) performance while affirming the importance of strong industry partnerships in supporting Sarawak’s sustainable energy future.
Held at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre in Kuching under the theme ‘Recognising Excellence, Powering Success Together’, SEVEA brought together government leaders, industry partners and business community to celebrate achievements that contribute to a safe, reliable and sustainable energy sector. The event also reflects Sarawak Energy's ongoing efforts to promote collaboration, raise industry standards and support Sarawak's long-term development aspirations under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
The awards ceremony was officiated by the Premier of Sarawak, The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, who emphasised that platforms such as SEVEA are important in recognising industry partners and strengthening standards across the energy sector.
The Premier highlighted that partnerships built over the years have been a key catalyst in advancing a sustainable energy sector while enhancing Sarawak's economic competitiveness.
"When government, industry, local enterprises and communities work together towards a shared vision, we create not only economic growth, but also a more resilient, inclusive and prosperous Sarawak. Excellence is no longer optional and platforms such as SEVEA play a critical role in setting the standards we must uphold as Sarawak strengthens its position as a regional energy powerhouse," he added in his speech at the SEVEA 2026 event.
Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, The Honourable Dato Sri Haji Julaihi Haji Narawi, said vendors and contractors provide the specialised expertise and operational support needed to deliver reliable utility services across the state. He said their role remains important as Sarawak continues to expand utility coverage and improve service delivery for communities in both urban and remote areas.
"The Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication continues to undertake numerous initiatives to expand utility coverage through the development of new networks, the strengthening of existing systems and enhancement works to improve service reliability throughout Sarawak. These initiatives reflect our commitment to ensuring every Sarawakian has access to quality electricity, water and telecommunications services, while creating opportunities that improve livelihoods and support inclusive growth across the state," he said.
Sarawak Energy Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Haji Sharbini Suhaili, reiterated Sarawak Energy remains committed to enhancing its vendor ecosystem through continued vendor development and financing support. He said vendors and contractors are important to Sarawak Energy’s operational performance, adding that strong governance, safety and environmental stewardship remain fundamental to achieving sustainable success.
To date, Sarawak Energy has approved more than RM139 million under its Vendor Development Programme and Vendor Financing Programme, enabling local businesses to build their capabilities and expand their participation in Sarawak’s growing energy industry.
A total of fourteen (14) vendors were recognised under the Vendor Appraisal and Awards across six categories: Best Works, Best Supplier, Best Service Provider, Best Local Consultant, Best International Consultant and Best Bumiputera Partner. Under the HSE Excellence Awards, one (1) project partner received the Contractor Environmental Impact Assessment Compliance Award (CECA), while three (3) contractors under the Contractor Transformation Programme (CTP) were presented with Gold Awards in recognition of their outstanding HSE performance.
SEVEA 2026 reflects Sarawak Energy's continued commitment to building a high-performing and future-ready vendor ecosystem founded on strong partnerships, operational excellence and responsible practices. Through sustained investment in vendor capability development, the company continues to strengthen local industry participation while supporting Sarawak's transition towards a sustainable and competitive energy future.
Present at the event were The Honourable Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and The Honourable Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Premiers of Sarawak; The Honourable Datuk Haji Ibrahim Haji Baki, Deputy Minister for Utility (Sarawak Energy & PETROS) and Chairman for Sarawak Energy; The Honourable Datuk Dr. Haji Hazland Haji Abang Hipni, Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability; The Honourable Datuk Liwan Lagang, Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication I (Telecommunication); Sarawak Energy Board Members Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi Haji Abdul Ghani and The Honourable Dato' Haji Idris Haji Buang; as well as other officials from government bodies and agencies.
