Sarawak Energy Marathon 2026 has attracted more than 5,700 participants to date, with registrations on track to surpass previous editions ahead of race day on 9 August at the Kuching Isthmus.

Building on the Sarawak Energy Isthmus Run held since 2013, the race is now rebranded as the Sarawak Energy Marathon. The 2025 edition drew close to 6,000 participants and the event continues to attract runners from both locally and abroad. To date, runners from Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Kenya, the Netherlands, Singapore, France, United Kingdom and United States have registered for this year’s edition.

Held during the annual Kuching City Day celebration period in August, the marathon is Sarawak Energy’s flagship running event and contributes to the city’s annual calendar of community activities while encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle among the public.

This year’s race will feature four categories: the 42km Full Marathon, 21km Half Marathon, 10km Competitive Run and 5km Fun Run, catering to runners of varying experience levels. To date, nearly 500 participants have registered for the Full Marathon category.

The race route will take runners through the Kuching Isthmus, passing the city’s iconic landmarks including the Darul Hana Bridge, the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Building, the Borneo Cultures Museum, the Kuching cat statue and the Kuching Waterfront.

A total prize pool of RM201,500 will be offered across all race categories, which is an increase from last year’s RM185,000. Winners of the men’s and women’s Open Full Marathon categories will each receive RM15,000.

In addition, participants will also be eligible for a lucky draw featuring prizes worth up to RM25,000, with further details to be announced on Sarawak Energy’s official social media platforms.

As part of Sarawak Energy’s commitment to giving back to the community, 100% of registration proceeds from the Sarawak Energy Marathon 2026 will be channelled to selected charitable organisations across the state. In 2025, the run raised RM360,000, benefiting 12 organisations in Sarawak.

Registration for the Sarawak Energy Marathon 2026 remains open until 30 June 2026. For more information, including road closures and event details, visit www.sarawakenergymarathon.com or follow Sarawak Energy’s official social media platforms.
