As part of its commitment to support community healthcare, Sarawak Energy in collaboration with Sarawak Badan Amal Tenaga Isteri-Isteri (SABATI), has donated a haemodialysis machine to Hospital Miri to strengthen the hospital’s capacity in meeting the growing demand for dialysis treatment in northern Sarawak.

The machine was handed over on 7 February 2026 as part of Sarawak Energy’s corporate responsibility programme through its Community Investment focus area of Community Development and Entrepreneurship, aimed at enhancing access to essential medical equipment at public healthcare facilities across Sarawak.

The handover ceremony was officiated by The Honourable Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Minister for Transport Sarawak where the machine was received by Dr Jack Wong Siew Yu, Miri Hospital Director. Also present were Hajah Siti Aisah Adenan, Sarawak Energy’s Senior Vice President for Corporate Services and Datin Hajah Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidin, Honorary Treasurer of SABATI.

“For patients undergoing dialysis, access to treatment is not just about medical equipment, it is about continuity, dignity and quality of life. Through this contribution and our collaboration with SABATI, we hope to ease the burden on both patients and healthcare providers, while ensuring essential services remain accessible to communities in Miri and the surrounding areas,” said Hajah Siti Aisah.

The donation to Hospital Miri is part of Sarawak Energy’s RM225,000 contribution to SABATI for the procurement of haemodialysis machines for hospitals statewide. Following the donation to Lundu Hospital in 2025, additional machines are scheduled for delivery to hospitals in Mukah, Bintulu and Sarikei later this year.

Sarawak Energy and SABATI began their healthcare collaboration in June 2020 with the donation of haemodialysis machines to Kapit and Lawas Hospitals. Since then, Sarawak Energy has supported medical facilities across Sarawak through contributions including dialysis machines, ECG machines, ambulances and fundoscopy equipment, as well as funding cataract surgeries in Kapit, Mukah-Balingian, Sungai Asap Belaga, Murum and Sri Aman.

Sarawak Energy’s social investment pillars are guided by four Community Investment focus areas: Education and Young People; Environmental Management and Conservation, Culture and Heritage Preservation; and Community Development and Entrepreneurship.
