Sarawak Energy has been awarded the ISO 37001:2025 Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) certification in recognition of its commitment to good governance, integrity and accountability. ABMS marks Sarawak Energy’s seventh ISO management system certification, which covers the scope of provision for fraud, bribery and corruption management system for corporate functions.
The certificate was formally presented by NIOSH Certification Chief Executive Officer, Syamsul Zahrin Zainudin, to Sarawak Energy Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Haji Sharbini Suhaili, at a ceremony held at Menara Sarawak Energy on 8 April 2026. The event was witnessed by Sarawak Energy Board Member Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi Haji Abdul Ghani and NIOSH Certification Director, Thomas Balan Bang. Also present at the ceremony from Sarawak Energy were its Senior Management; as well as its Integrity & Compliance and Integrated Management System Assurance teams.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sarawak Energy Senior Vice President for Legal and Compliance, George Chapman, said the certification reflects the organisation’s continued efforts to uphold integrity, ethics and good governance, with a zero-tolerance approach to fraud, bribery and corruption across its operations, including from its business partners while maintaining stakeholder confidence.
“Adhering to the provisions of this ISO standard promotes trust and confidence in our business dealings and enhances Sarawak Energy’s reputation,” he said.
The certification followed a comprehensive audit process conducted by its certification body, NIOSH Certification Sdn Bhd (NCSB), while being observed by a representative from the Department of Standards Malaysia (DSM). Sarawak Energy completed its Stage 1 and 2 audits in 2025.
The ISO 37001:2025 standard supports Sarawak Energy’s Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy and related frameworks, helping to manage risks associated with fraud, bribery and corruption while strengthening internal controls and processes.
The updated standard places greater emphasis on emerging risks, including those linked to climate-related activities, while maintaining a focus on ethical conduct across all levels of the organisation.
The ABMS certification reflects the implementation of adequate procedures in line with Section 17A of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 (Amendment 2018), supporting the management of corporate liability risks related to bribery and corruption.
Sarawak Energy has implemented an Integrated Management System (IMS) to align its ISO-certified and accredited management systems across the organisation. The company aims to progressively extend the ISO 37001:2025 ABMS certification across the Group, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and organisational resilience.
