Customers Advised to Use Electricity Wisely During Hot, Dry and Hazy Conditions
KUCHING
11 AUGUST 2026
Sarawak Energy is encouraging customers to use electricity wisely as Sarawak experiences prolonged hot and dry weather, with the conditions expected to continue in the coming weeks.
Hotter weather may increase electricity consumption as customers use air-conditioning and other cooling appliances for longer periods. At the same time, prolonged dry conditions may affect water resources that support hydropower generation.
Customers are encouraged to avoid unnecessary electricity use, particularly during periods of high demand. Simple measures such as setting air-conditioners to around 24°C, switching off lights and appliances when not in use, and avoiding the simultaneous use of multiple high-powered appliances can help reduce consumption.
Customers with smart meters can utilise Sarawak Energy's digital services through the SEB cares mobile app and web portal to better understand, monitor and manage their electricity consumption. The Energy Insights feature enables users to track their usage on an hourly, daily and monthly basis to identify opportunities to save energy and manage costs.
Sarawak Energy continues to closely monitor weather conditions, water resources and electricity demand, and is taking the necessary measures to support the reliability of electricity supply during this period.
Customers are encouraged to play their part by using electricity responsibly and conserving energy.
For enquiries or assistance, customers may contact Sarawak Energy's Customer Care Centre at 1300-88-3111, email customercare@sarawakenergy.com, access the SEB cares mobile app or web portal, or engage with its virtual agent, CARINA.
