Over 4,000 Sarawak Energy Employees Now Registered with Sarawak Pay

Over 4,000 of Sarawak Energy’s 5,200 employees have successfully registered for Sarawak Pay, enabling the energy developer and power utility to record a successful sign-up rate of over 80% for Sarawak’s home-grown e-Wallet as of the end of February.

Sarawak Pay was launched by the Sarawak government as a digital economy initiative and marks the state’s first home-grown e-Wallet.

Sarawak Energy’s successful sign-up campaign follows its launch in mid-January by Group Chief Executive Officer Datu Haji Sharbini Suhaili to encourage all full-time employees to register with Sarawak Pay through a once-off RM108 incentive payment communicated through a roadshow and email promotions.

Those who register before the end of April 2020 will continue to be eligible for the incentive. Of the 4,000 employees who have registered since mid-January, over 3,000 have received the incentive.

The once-off incentive comprises prize money from Sarawak Energy’s Silver Award for the Main State Agency category of the Chief Minister’s Trophy at last year’s State Civil Service Day that the management decided to divide out amongst all staff, with an additional top up to bring the e-disbursement to RM108.

“We reached the 80% mark in less than two months since we launched our campaign. We are pleased to support Sarawak Pay by encouraging our people to sign up through our incentive programme, and ensuring outlets on our premises such as our cafeteria to accept its use. In addition to paying through ‘SEB Cares’, our customers are also able to pay their power bills through Sarawak Pay,” Sharbini said.
