Sarawak Energy Prepared For GE14

KUCHING, 26TH APRIL 2018, THURSDAY: Sarawak Energy is mobilising all necessary resources to ensure reliability of power supply for the 14th General Election (GE14).

The State-owned Electricity Utility has put in place a preparedness framework, with additional standby teams dedicated to quick restorations especially on nomination and polling days.

Group Chief Operating Officer Lu Yew Hung (卢友云) said a liaison team has been set up for better coordination and quick responses to issues over the campaign period.

“As with every election, we have intensified our technical team strength to minimize any supply interruptions and to ensure quick restoration, especially on polling day. We will be closely monitoring feeders supplying voting and tally centres.

“We will be stationing switching and standby personnel at strategic points in our system throughout the State. They will also be on standby at critical facilities to ensure swift recovery in the event of a breakdown,” he said.

In addition, Lu also cautioned election workers against hanging or displaying election materials on or close by live electrical facilities during the campaign period for this could endanger their lives.

Reports and enquiries can be channeled to Sarawak Energy’s 24-hour Customer Careline at 1300-88-3111 and updates on shutdowns and supply interruptions can be obtained through Sarawak Energy’s “SEB Cares” Mobile App, available for download at Apple’s App Store for iOS and Google’s Play.
