Harnessing Hydropower To Fuel Sustainable Growth In Sarawak

Driven by the desire to achieve sustainable growth and prosperity in the region, Sarawak Energy Berhad is meeting the country the demand for reliable, renewable energy.
Blessed with high rainfall and an abundance of rivers, Sarawak is a region that is rich in hydropower reserves. Therefore, through its Sarawak Corridor for Renewable Energy (SCORE), the company is harnessing this energy to provide competitive energy prices which are attracting energy-intensive industries.
The state-owned company is also embarking on another ambitious project - the Sarawak Alternative Rural Electrification Scheme.
By utilising alternative renewable energy technologies, the company is determined to provide electricity to each and every Sarawakian where possible.
"We see it as our moral obligation to make sure that everybody in the state has equal access to energy," says Shiun Chen.
"The pace at which we transition towards renewables depends on technology advancements. It will happen. It's just a matter of timing," adds Sharbini Suhaili.
