FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Who is eligible for the electricity discount?

All Sarawak Energy customers under the domestic tariff (Tariff D) are eligible for the electricity bill discount.

The domestic tariff applies to residential homes only (non‑commercial purposes) and does not apply to commercial properties.

Eligible customers will receive a 25% discount on their total monthly electricity bill for electricity consumption from April to December 2026.

    2. Do I need to register or apply to Sarawak Energy to receive the discount?

No. The discount will be automatically applied to all eligible domestic customers. No application or registration is required.

However, customers who receive estimated bills are strongly advised to contact Sarawak Energy to verify their actual electricity usage. This will ensure the discount is calculated accurately. Any differences identified after verification will be adjusted in subsequent bills.

      3. I am under a different tariff. Am I eligible for the electricity bill discount?

No. The electricity bill discount is only applicable to customers under the domestic tariff (Tariff D).

Customers under other tariff categories are not eligible for this discount.

        4. When will the electricity bill discount appear on my bill?

Electricity consumption for April 2026 will be reflected in the June 2026 electricity bill, in line with Sarawak Energy’s billing cycle.

This allows sufficient time for system updates and billing processes to be completed consistently across all domestic customer accounts. It also ensures that electricity consumption data is properly verified so the discount is applied accurately and fairly.

From May 2026 onwards, the 25% electricity bill discount will be shown directly in the same month’s bill.

          5. What happens to my electricity bill discount if I terminate my account before December 2026?

You will still be eligible for the electricity bill discount for electricity consumed up to the date of your account termination, provided it falls within the eligibility period.

The discount will be prorated based on your termination date and credited after verification.

            6. My meter was replaced between April and December 2026. Am I still entitled to receive the discount?

Yes, you are still eligible for the electricity bill discount as long as you meet the eligibility criteria.

              7. How will the discount appear on my electricity bill?

The discount will be shown as a separate bill adjustment on your electricity bill, which will reduce the total amount payable for the month.

Your electricity charges will first be calculated as usual. The 25% discount will then be applied, and the reduced amount will be reflected under ‘Total Current Charges’ in your bill.

                8. Can I request an electricity bill adjustment after December 2026 to ensure I receive the correct discount?

Yes. Customers who require a billing adjustment may submit a request up to 28 February 2027, as stipulated by the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT).

Customers are encouraged to check their bills during the discount period and submit any adjustment requests as early as possible, where applicable. Requests received after 28 February 2027 will not be processed.
